Estonian Environmental Research Centre (EKUK) is a leading chemical and physical lab analysis service provider in Estonia.
The Centre offers chemical and physical lab analysis, and geotechnical investigations. Our clients are private enterprises, private individuals and various state institutions.
EKUK has been designated by relevant government institutions to operate as an approved laboratory in the field of food and fuel testing and as a reference laboratory in the field of waste water. EKUK offers a wide selection of chemical and physical analyses and related services.
Environmental monitoring
Environmental monitoring involves studies in the framework of governmental programs and at the order of several environmental institutions, including the Environment Department. Study results are used towards improvement of human environment, development of environment-friendly technologies and a national environmental strategy, but also assessment of accident-related pollution and identification of pollution sources.
Quality management system
- The quality management system of Estonian Environmental Research Centre has since 1998 been accredited by Estonian Accreditation Centre. In 2009 it was certified by AS Metrosert as compliant with standards ISO 9001 and 14001.
- Estonian Accreditation Centre has found the testing lab to be in compliance with the requirements of EN ISO/IEC 17025.
- Minister of the Environment has designated EKUK as a reference laboratory in the field of waste water.
- Veterinary and Food Board has authorised EKUK to analyse food and raw material for food.
- Minister of Agriculture has authorised EKUK to analyse alcohol.
- Estonian Accreditation Centre has accredited EKUK as a product certification body and an inspection authority. The Centre has been found to be in compliance with the requirements of EN 45011 and EN ISO/IEC 17020.
- Decision of the Commission at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has authorized EKUK to provide certification of liquid fuels.
The quality management system of EKUK is daily managed by the Quality and Conformity Assessment Department.
Estonian Environmental Research Institute
The Estonian Environmental Research Institute within EKUK studies vital issues in environmental science and nature conservation. The Institute employs 5 research doctorate holders or candidates and 6 master’s candidates.
