Food lab services

The food lab of the Fuel Quality and Customs Services Department provides chemical analysis and determination of physical characteristics of all foods (e.g. milk and meat products, alcoholic beverages, confectionery, sweets etc).

Characteristics determined

  • All foods: chlorides, total nitrogen, moisture, dry matter, ash, fat, PCB-s, organochlorinated pesticides, heavy metals (Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Sn, Tl, V, Zn)
  • Alcoholic beverages: alcohol content, aldehydes, esters, methanol and fused oils
  • Milk powder: moisture or dry matter, fat, raw protein, lactose
  • Cheese: moisture, dry matter, fat, raw protein.
  • Meat products: moisture or dry matter, fat, nitrogen, ash
  • Butter: moisture, fat-free dry matter, fat
  • Confectionery: moisture, fat, sugars as separate components (fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose), starch, milk fat
