Geotechnical lab

The geotechnical engineering lab tests geotechnical characteristics of soil for geotechnicians, designers, builders and engineering-geologists.

The geotechnical lab does the following studies:

  • classification and composition of soil – particle size distribution, Attenberg limits, content of organic matter and carbonates;
  • soil condition – consistency, density;
  • physical characteristics – water content, bulk density, specific gravity;
  • water properties – permeability, swelling, soaking;
  • mechanical characteristics – compressibility, consolidation, shear strength, unconfined compressive strength;
  • soil corrosive activities on foundation and cables;
  • around water aggression on foundation;
  • consultation on soil testing.
